Encaustic painting
This is the process of painting with hot wax. Beeswax, dammar resin (from pine trees) and pigments are fused together with heat to build up layers onto a surface. This can be done through a variety of techniques and additional materials are often added into the wax to achieve different effects.
Captivating Connections Series
In this collection, I hope to reveal a unique beauty that can be discovered in the intricately designed patterns all around and within us. Additionally, I want to reflect the ever-changing growth and decay cycle of these patterns as time passes. We all see captivating connection systems throughout the world-- from the growth of branches to the movement of ocean foam and currents, and even in the weave of spider webs. Looking within, we can see the design of complex, evolving connections in our brains and nervous systems. All connection webs found in creation have a distinct purpose, lifespan and incredible beauty.
